About the Role

Working in conjunction with the Lead Adviser - Wellbeing & Support, you will provide a professional, accessible welfare service to all Fife College students. You will be expected to support and advise students throughout their journey, from pre-entry through to progression to positive destination, ensuring that you keep in contact using a variety of methods including face to face, calls, emails, and social media.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review the effectiveness of the services offered to students through ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reflection; adapting to meet the changing needs of our students.
  2. Monitor retention and attainment statistics for all our students.
  3. Manage a caseload. Liaise with internal and external partners to contribute to the case management of students (including students with complex needs/issues).
  4. Assess student vulnerability/eligibility for emergency funding and foodbank vouchers.
  5. Deliver workshops – SAAS, UCAS, RESPECT, Budgeting. Prepare lesson plans and resources to ensure success and learner achievement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or equivalent qualification in a Guidance or Counselling related subject.
  • Safeguarding training.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience of guidance or counselling work preferably within an education setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection/student issues.
  • An understanding of barriers to learning and how these may be overcome.
  • Proven record of Safeguarding.
  • Experience of working and supporting Looked After and Accommodated young people within education.
  • Experience of working and supporting Offenders within education.
