Summary
A world-leading engineering company like the NCC needs a world-leading IT project management team to keep the cogs turning
As an IT Project Manager at NCC, you'll have responsibility for the delivery of a range of IT technology projects including infrastructure, software, cloud migration, security & networking from the IT programme portfolios. Utilising the NCC IT project methodologies you'll ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality whilst meeting the project sponsors expectations in terms of project objectives, requirements vs. project deliverables and goals, ensuring the desired benefits will be delivered.
You may also provide project support to other business projects and programmes as an IT workstream for the delivery of new capability, business improvement, strategic change or a customer project as required.
We use a waterfall method of project delivery and you would initially focus on infrastructure & cloud based projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and resource allocation to build, test, delivery and handover to post-implementation support.
- Working closely with project sponsors, senior IT managers, and various cross-functional teams to ensure that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Interacting with colleagues across the NCC to understand their requirements, as well as suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver on time.
- To manage small, medium and large projects from the IT Portfolios through the lifecycle ensuring PID creation and approval, documented and approved requirements, HLD approved by the ARB, project planning, CARDI management, cost control and management, change control and impact assessment, test strategy, LLD documentation and service introduction and transition.
- Project governance activities.
- Stakeholder management both internal and potentially with 3rd parties.
- Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan and stakeholder communications plan.
- Project resourcing & recruitment.
- Ensuring requirements are captured, documented and approved.
- Data & system security - Within the project lifecycle ensure that the highest levels of IT security and Information Security are maintained in order to protect the integrity of all NCC data, particularly that relating to personal data or high value Intellectual Property.
- Managing project scope and change control and escalating impacts to timelines and budgets to the Project Sponsor, Senior IT Project Manager and/or IT Programme Manager.
- Monitoring project progress and performance and reporting status weekly to agreed stakeholders, including liaison with, and updates on progress to, Project Steering Board/Senior Management.
- Managing & tracking project finances, raising PORFs for purchasing, ensuring budget spend stays in the agreed parameters, escalating potential overspend and further budget need to the Project Sponsor, Senior IT Project Manager and/or IT Programme Manager.
What are we looking for in your application?
Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include:
- Experience working as a mid-level project manager within IT, with a solid track record in managing diverse IT, infrastructure and cloud projects within a matrix organisation.
- Project Management qualifications such as APM or PRINCE2 along with practical experience in these methodologies and familiarity with ITIL practices.
- Good RAID, planning, finance & stakeholder management skills. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and handle competing deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in customer engagement and supplier management.
In terms of personal qualities, we look for the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people via virtual meetings, in writing and face to face; good organisation skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail.
What do we offer in return?
Hybrid and flexible working patterns as standard, annual salary reviews, company paid private medical insurance, up to 12.5% employer pension contribution, great people, honorary staff status at the University of Bristol. With a genuine focus on wellbeing, EDI and learning and development this is a chance to build your career in a thriving R&D facility with a bright future.
Not sure you meet all the requirements? Let us decide Research shows that women and members of other underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs if they think they may not meet every qualification, when in fact they often do. At the NCC we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply. If still unsure, feel free to reach out to Jon Barratt via LinkedIn, or the recruitment at Nccuk.com inbox.
