The Simons Collaboration on Ecological Neuroscience (SCENE): SCENE is an international consortium of 20 leading researchers in the fields of Computational, Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience, and Machine Learning, with its Spokesperson based at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. SCENE consists of a total of approx. 100 researchers, with an annual budget of 6.5M over 5 years, extendable for another 5 years. The scientific mission of the Simons Collaboration on Ecological Neuroscience (SCENE) is to understand how affordances offered by the world shape representations in the mind and the brain. A position exists, for a SCENE Manager in the Computational & Biological Learning Lab at the Department of Engineering's site in Central Cambridge. You will be responsible for the strategic coordination and delivery of the international collaboration, ensuring effective governance, long-term sustainability, and global impact. You will play a strategic leadership role in supporting the Spokesperson and Steering Committee and will have independent responsibility for managing international partnerships, overseeing governance structures, and shaping SCENE's research and funding strategy. The successful candidate will also have a proactive leadership role in coordinating SCENE's international collaboration, serving as the key strategic liaison with principal investigators, external stakeholders, and funding bodies and will oversee reporting, compliance, and strategic planning, ensuring SCENE not only meets, but anticipates and exceeds, the requirements of its funders. You will take the lead in developing major grant applications and funding bids, aligning SCENE's scientific strategy with opportunities from national and international agencies (EPSRC, ESRC, Wellcome Trust, EU, etc.). The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a related subject, or possess an equivalent level of experience, and a PhD in a related subject would be desirable. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential for this role, together with proven experience in the strategic management of research collaborations, including governance, compliance and stakeholder engagement.
