We are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Property Surveyor or a Commercial Property Surveyor, depending on skills and experience. The role is for a fixed term period of 12 months. The Department Portsmouth City Council's Property and Investment Team is part of the Economy, Transport and Planning Directorate. We manage a multi million pound property portfolio spanning industrial, retail, office, leisure, agricultural, and alternative sectors—including a major municipal port. Our work generates £25 million annually and supports regeneration and capital projects across the UK. What is the role? As a Senior Commercial Property Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in estate and asset management, reporting to the Head of Commercial Property. Your responsibilities will include: Managing landlord and tenant matters—lease renewals, rent reviews, lettings, and licences. Overseeing a diverse property portfolio and ensuring timely reporting and compliance. Supporting capital schemes and development projects. Driving income generation and cost savings. Mentoring graduate and trainee surveyors on their path to RICS qualification. Who is the person? You will be a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS or FRICS) with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience. You will bring: Expertise in asset management and landlord/tenant work. Experience in Red Book valuations and property investment analysis and the acquisition and disposal process. A commercial mindset and strong business approach. Leadership skills to mentor others. IT proficiency and adaptability. A valid driving licence for site visits.
