This position involves delivering essential, tailored support, often on a one-to-one or small group basis. You will be working with pupils who present a range of complex needs, including Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD), complex medical needs, and specific communication disorders. Your daily presence will be crucial in creating a stimulating, safe, and emotionally supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver bespoke support that enables students to focus, manage their sensory environment, and participate as fully as possible in their highly differentiated lessons. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to prepare the classroom, adapting resources to meet the unique physical and cognitive needs of the pupils. Implement specific therapeutic and communication strategies outlined in students' support plans, including those related to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and alternative communication methods. Be a consistent emotional anchor, employing gentle de-escalation skills and proactively promoting positive coping and interaction skills. Maintain detailed and accurate records of student engagement, learning milestones, and overall well-being to inform holistic progress reviews. Assist pupils with intimate care, personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility as required, ensuring these duties are performed with the utmost discretion, respect, and dignity. Candidate Profile Solid, verifiable experience supporting children or young people with complex, multi-faceted SEN, ideally within a specialist school or care setting. An inherently calm, compassionate, and highly resilient character, coupled with a deep‑sealed enthusiasm for supporting vulnerable learners. The capacity to forge strong, professional relationships quickly with pupils who have diverse social and emotional needs. Excellent skills in observation, professional communication, and working cohesively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
