Technical Operations Manager Department: Operations Employment Type: Permanent Location: London, UK Description As the Technical Operations Manager at Convex Insurance, you support the day-to‑day technical, operational and process management activities across our London Market and Syndicate operations. Reporting into the Head of Underwriting Support, you will assume responsibility for the oversight and delivery of high‑quality services across a series of activities which include, but are not limited to, on‑site administrative support provided by Underwriting Support Assistants (USAs), offshore capture of policy data within our policy administration systems and all associated control/ governance activities. You will bring robust London Market technical knowledge and experience, excellent relationship management skills and a proven ability to drive performance through third party providers while maintaining a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Hold a leadership role in the Technical Operations Team and oversee activity delivered through our outsourced partners. Provide day‑to‑day guidance, support, prioritisation and escalation support for work performed by outsourcing teams, acting as a Technical SME. Help to ensure outsourced activity is delivered on time, to the required technical standard and in line with defined process, policies, market standards and audit expectations. Monitor operational KPIs and SLAs, identifying performance issues and driving corrective actions. Work with our MI and Data teams to produce relevant insights into the effectiveness of operational controls and quality of performance. Build strong partnerships with stakeholders across Convex and with our external partners. Work closely with Underwriting Business Partners to understand the requirements of each underwriting team and work collaboratively to implement change or improvement to underwriting processes. Work with outsource providers to embed process improvements, share knowledge, strengthen controls and enhance delivery capabilities. Identify and drive operational improvement opportunities. Partner with Technology and other relevant business functions on process and system design and enhancements, as well as supporting change programmes, operational readiness and rollout of new processes or systems. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Depth of London Market technical experience in underwriting operations (minimum 5 years). Demonstrable experience managing outsourced relationships or offshore operational teams. Strong process ownership capability, with a track record of improving operational quality and control. Excellent stakeholder management skills. High attention to detail and a problem‑solving mindset. Robust quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. A continuous improvement mindset.
