Customer Delivery Driver - Askham Bar Extra Join to apply for the Customer Delivery Driver - Askham Bar Extra role at Tesco Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but we also provide flexibility to work as few as 12 hours a week. We use availability windows to schedule your contracted hours. Your shifts will be confirmed three weeks in advance. If your availability is close to, but not exactly matching, the advertised windows, we will still consider your application. Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco out on the road, we deliver all the way from Lands' End to John O'Groats. Our Delivery Drivers meet and talk to customers in their homes every day. This role is more than just driving – it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile. Its hands‑on, physical and full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same. For most of the day you’ll feel like your own boss, but you always have support from Managers and base colleagues when needed. About the role Availability windows include: Sunday: 19:00 – 23:00 Tuesday: 08:00 – 18:00 Wednesday: 08:00 – 19:00 Saturday: 08:00 – 19:00 You will be responsible for Ensuring the van and trays are clean and tidy. Leaving the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, and picking up litter whenever seen. Ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process. Loading the van as required and checking the van for roadworthiness. Telling customers about any changes to their order, including short‑code items and substitutions, and offering a refund for items they are unhappy with. Taking care of products and deliveries as if they were your own. Explaining to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions. Delivering during the customer’s time slot. Calling the customer before arriving at their property if early. Calling the store or centre if you are 30 minutes or more late. You will need Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and work together to make our store the best it can be for customers. Welcome customers and colleagues with warmth, taking time to understand them and say “Thank you”. Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store. Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work life. Share ideas with the manager and colleagues on how to improve our store. Hold a valid UK, EU or EEA full or automatic driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points. Whats in it for you?
