London, United Kingdom Women in Payments Full time

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films, and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause, and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

About This Role

We are seeking an experienced Payments Director to lead our consumer payments for the UK and Ireland markets. As part of the Product organization, this senior leadership role demands an exceptional payments executive who will architect and drive Netflix's payment strategy, shaping our commerce infrastructure and partnership approach in the region at a critical stage of Netflix’s growth. As a key leader, you will be responsible for reimagining our payments approach, developing innovative solutions that not only optimize our payment performance but also fundamentally enhance our member experience. This is an opportunity to design payment strategies that support Netflix's ambitious growth trajectory, leveraging deep technical expertise and strategic acumen to create frictionless, scalable payment experiences for millions of members across our most dynamic European markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive payments strategy for UK/Ireland, and drive innovation in payments by considering consumer needs, regulatory environments, and technological trends.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with financial partners, including payment service providers, card schemes, and key institutions, while negotiating and managing contracts to drive payment performance and foster innovation.
  • Own key payment metrics and market trends and derive actionable insights to improve customer experience and performance.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional payment initiatives (both internally and externally) that impact millions of members and deliver significant revenue streams.
  • Drive strategic payment innovation by partnering with key internal teams including Finance & Strategy, Payments Product Management, Engineering, and Payments Policies to develop and implement cutting-edge payment solutions.
  • Navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, including FCA & PSR initiatives around strong customer authentication, faster payments, open banking (e.g. 3DS, cVRP) and ensure Netflix's compliance while maintaining a frictionless member experience.
  • Represent the Payments team across the company and engage in strategic discussions with executives across domains.
Ideal Candidate Profile and Skills
  • 12+ years of experience managing payments at a large merchant, issuer, acquirer, payment service provider, or fintech company, with expertise in subscription-based and high-volume digital payments.
  • Deep understanding of current and future payment technologies.
  • Extensive network of relationships and proven track record of partnering with card processors, card schemes, banks, and fintechs, including product development and contract negotiation.
  • Visionary leader with a strategic mindset, able to translate abstract ideas into concrete action plans and drive complex initiatives in a global technology company.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources and make strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex payment concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative and inspirational, with a history of building strong relationships across diverse cross-functional teams and influencing external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, embracing failure as a learning opportunity.
  • Impeccable judgment and integrity, with the ability to make key decisions quickly and autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of payments for one of the world's leading entertainment companies in a dynamic and diverse region. As Netflix continues its growth expansion, payment complexities are also growing. There are new challenges we’re facing, and there’s plenty of space to make a high impact. If this resonates with you and you see yourself represented with our unique culture, come be a part of making Netflix become the most loved entertainment company in the world.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner. We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
