The Access Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate quotations for automatic gates, turnstiles, bollards, barriers, shutters, automatic doors, and access control systems. The role ensures all estimates are prepared efficiently, meeting company standards and maintaining contractual service levels.This position requires strong collaboration with engineers, procurement, and senior management to deliver high-quality, cost-effective proposals that align with customer needs and business profitability objectives.Core Operational ResponsibilitiesAssess data from worksheets and determine required parts and labour.Clarify missing or ambiguous information with engineers or senior managers to ensure accuracy.Liaise with procurement to obtain the best pricing on parts.Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for customers within agreed timeframes.Ensure all quotations meet company margin and pricing guidelines.Arrange site surveys where necessary to gather essential information.Process ImplementationAdhere to company standards and guidelines for estimating and pricing.Maintain accurate records of quotations and costs for future reference.Ensure pricing strategies remain competitive while maintaining required profit margins.Monitor quote approval rates and refine approaches for better conversion.Compliance and Service DeliveryEnsure all quotes align with contractual SLAs and compliance standards.Support the wider business in achieving operational KPIs related to quoting efficiency.Maintain high levels of communication with relevant departments to support the sales and operational teams.Raise any potential issues or risks to senior management promptly.Core Commercial ResponsibilitiesRevenue GenerationSupport business growth by preparing competitive yet profitable estimates.Ensure all quotes maximise potential revenue while maintaining cost efficiency.Follow up on quotations where necessary to convert opportunities into revenue.Cost ManagementEnsure quotes are costed efficiently, balancing supplier costs with company profitability.Work closely with procurement to secure cost-effective purchasing options.Monitor supplier price fluctuations and update pricing models accordingly.Stakeholder ManagementDevelop strong relationships with engineers, customers, and internal departments.Communicate effectively with senior management (including the Chief Operating Officer), providing updates on quote pipelines and trends.Ensure high levels of customer service by responding to pricing queries in a timely and professional manner.Core People ResponsibilitiesIdentify areas for improvement in estimating and quotation processes.Support initiatives to enhance quote turnaround times and strike rates.Contribute to ongoing training and process development to drive business efficiency.Explore the use of technology, AI and automation to improve scalability.Communication and CollaborationIdentify areas for improvement in estimating and quotation processes.Support initiatives to enhance quote turnaround times and strike rates.Contribute to ongoing training and process development to drive business efficiency.KPIsMeasurable outcomes you will need to focus on include:Quote turnaround time – Ensuring estimates are completed within agreed SLAs.Strike rate – Monitoring the percentage of quotes converted into confirmed orders.Quotation accuracy – Ensuring estimates reflect true costs and margins.Customer response time – Speed of handling inquiries and revisions.Skills and Experience RequiredStrong estimating experience, ideally in an engineering or access control industry.Ability to assess technical requirements and prepare accurate costings.Excellent communication skills for liaising with engineers, suppliers, and customers.High attention to detail and ability to work within strict pricing parameters.IT proficiency – ability to use estimating tools, spreadsheets, and company systems.Strong time management skills, capable of working to deadlines.Experience in the access control, security, or construction industry.Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier negotiations.Ability to contribute to process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.Additional InformationSalary of £40000 OTE with basic of £32000.25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays.Unit 4A Pepper Road, Bramhall Moor Technology Park, Hazel Grove, Stockport, SK7 5BW. #J-18808-Ljbffr
