Criminal Justice Drug and Alcohol Practitioner

The Derbyshire Recovery Partnership are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be our new drug and alcohol worker in the Buxton area of High Peak Derbyshire. This role will be working with people involved in the criminal justice system, who may be leaving prison or are already living in the local community.There will be plenty of drug and alcohol and criminal justice training provided; it's not essential to already have experience of this. We're looking for transferrable skills and someone who is keen to learn and excited about this field of work and helping people that have been/are involved with criminality.The RoleIn this role you will be trained to co-ordinate care and deliver 1:1 and group focused on psychosocial and harm reduction interventions to people who use our service. This cohort of people accessing our service may be subject to licence conditions, Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) court orders, and may be involved with the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, Courts, Liaison and Diversion, Prison healthcare, Probation services. The focus of this role is helping engage people to address their drug/alcohol use and reduce criminality, improving their health outcomes and quality of life.This role involves managing a small caseload where you will provide a high intensity and frequency of support to people living in the Buxton High Peak community.There is also an opportunity to apply for prison vetting and once cleared you can conduct some prison in-reach with people who will shortly be leaving prison to return to their local community in Derbyshire. We conduct prison in-reach primarily in HMP Foston Hall, HMP Nottingham and HMP Ranby, and in-reach will involve assessing the treatment needs of people leaving prison and supporting them by involving other services as you plan comprehensive community-based care. You will liaise closely and regularly with other relevant professionals and involve specialist local services within your role.The role will be based in Buxton in High Peak Derbyshire, working 37.5 hours per week; Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, on a permanent contract. Due to the outreach and responsive nature of this role, applicants must have a driving licence and access to their own vehicle for work and travel expenses for outreach are reimbursed.Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a clear passion for working with people using drugs and/or alcohol that are also involved in the criminal justice system.
