Job Summary We are looking for enthusiastic Theatre Practitioners for Scrub and/or Anaesthetic roles in our critical care team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. The position includes a Permanent Post and a Fixed Term 12‑month Post within a leading children’s tertiary referral centre that is part of the regional major trauma network. About You Qualified ODP, RCN or RGN Commitment to delivering high‑quality, compassionate care Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development Main Duties Work within a self‑contained theatre team on a daily basis. Utilise clinical and risk assessment skills to maintain a safe environment. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans for children/young people and their families within the nursing/theatre team framework. Details Date posted: 08 December 2025 Pay scheme: Agenda for Change Band: 5 Salary: £31,049 – £37,796 a year (pro rata) Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Full‑time / Part‑time Location: Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TH Person Specification Essential Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse or ODP (RN Child / RSCN / RGN or ODP) Current registration with NMC/HCPC Commitment to professional development Role of Theatre Practitioner Accountability and own limitations Health & Safety safe practices, Principles of Infection Control, Principles of Safeguarding of children Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to respect cultural, social and religious diversity Able to use own initiative and good decision‑making skills Effective interpersonal skills Desirable Teaching, mentoring and assessor qualification Relevant Post Basic registration course Paediatric Life Support Experience in Nursing or Operating Department Understanding of the clinical governance agenda Health, safety and risk awareness Awareness of resource management Extended role skills (e.g., IV practice) Specialty skills: Medical, Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Critical Care, One‑to‑One Teaching Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Sheffield Children’s is an equal opportunities employer committed to creating an inclusive workforce.
