Intermediate Quantity Surveyor (Freelance, CIS or PAYE Umbrella - No LTD COMPANIES) Location: Birmingham Project Value: £30 Million Contract: 6–8 Months (Freelance) Pay: £300–£350 per day (CIS or PAYE Umbrella) Sector: Sports & Leisure / Entertainment About the Company Our client is an ambitious and rapidly growing main contractor specialising in Sports & Leisure projects up to £50 million in value. Known for delivering high-quality, design-led schemes across the UK, they are now seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a major entertainment and leisure project in Birmingham. The Project A £30 million refurbishment and extension of an existing building, transforming it into a state-of-the-art sports entertainment hub and multi-sport facility. The Role Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll assist in managing the commercial elements of the project from procurement through to final account. This is a fantastic opportunity for an intermediate QS looking to gain experience on a complex, high-profile scheme within a fast-growing contractor. Key Responsibilities : Assist the SQS with measurement, valuations, and cost reporting. Support procurement of subcontract packages and materials. Manage subcontractor accounts and payment applications. Prepare and review variations, change control, and interim valuations. Maintain accurate cost tracking and forecasting. Contribute to monthly CVRs and project reporting. Ensure commercial compliance and strong financial control. Requirements : Degree or HNC / HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent). Experience working for main contractors only — ideally within the leisure, entertainment, or commercial sectors. NO RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPERS PLS. Good knowledge of JCT contracts. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team.
