We are looking to recruit two Assistant Clinical Research Practitioners to support the delivery and set‑up of NIHR RDN portfolio studies across varied health and care settings. Main Duties The focus for this role is to provide support to the delivery and/or set up of National Institute for Health and Care Research Research Delivery Network (NIHR RDN) Portfolio studies across varied health and care settings. This will require flexible autonomous working across disciplines and the Regional RDN (RRDN) region. Research delivery will involve the correct identification, recruitment, delivery and follow up for research participants according to the appropriate research protocols. The post holder will need interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate collaborative working relationships across a breadth of stakeholders to maximise engagement opportunities. This post may contribute to line management for a team of research delivery staff working autonomously in a variety of specialties and settings. The role will work alongside different professions from multiple organisations involved in health and care research and will be an integral part of the Agile Research Delivery Team which sits within the RRDN core team. The post holder will also work closely with the Study Support Service and the Stakeholder and Engagement team. Job Responsibilities Collect, record, and maintain data for patients on NIHR portfolio studies. Support current portfolio research staff in ensuring completeness, accuracy and consistency of data to meet reporting standards to regulatory bodies. Provide clinical support to patients in clinical trials, such as taking samples, performing tests and physical measurements in accordance with the clinical trial protocol and Good Clinical Practice. Support research across the network and coordinate/facilitate concurrent research studies. Ensure compliance within the network and NHS trusts' policies on data protection, confidentiality and security. Provide clinical research practitioner support to various clinical specialties conducting research in NHS organisations, as well as public health, community and social care settings, across the East Midlands RRDN region. Work across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire, partnering with a broad range of settings. Contribute to the model that drives clinical research delivery performance and champions research across every level of health and care. Person Specification – Essential Educated to A level or equivalent. NVQ3/foundation degree in a healthcare‑related subject or working towards. Developing knowledge of governance, legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including ICH Good Clinical Practice. Developing knowledge of the clinical trial and health and care research lifecycle, including some experience of setting up clinical research studies in a health or care setting. Demonstrable experience of data management/administration, preferably in a health or care setting. Computer literate with experience of web applications, Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications. Understanding of confidentiality issues. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good planning, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Willing to undertake professional development. Ability to travel for work and a current driving licence. Enthusiastic, respectful, adaptable, professional, calm under pressure, team player, assertive, facilitative, proactive, growth‑oriented, integrity, calm and supportive when required. Person Specification – Desirable Completed or working towards a Care Certificate. Experience of the care of patients/participants enrolled in research studies. Knowledge of case‑note tracking and computerised patient administrative systems. Phlebotomy experience.
