We are looking for a Senior Bioinformatician in Exposome Immunology to join the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford. The post-holder will co‑lead development of a CoRE computational pipeline that integrates multi‑omic data at the cellular level across exposomes and diseases, revealing novel biology and shared mechanisms of immune regulation. They will work with a team of data scientists in Manchester and Oxford towards the development of the integrated omics data analysis pipeline within the CoRE, creating omics‑based tissue atlases and associated computational models to characterise the effect of exposures on different tissues in humans and model systems. As a Senior Bioinformatician, you will be responsible for identifying, defining and planning new projects, taking overall or shared responsibility for development of the CoRE computational pipeline for integration of omics data with other relevant datasets. You will manage CoRE data scientists to support the CoRE programme objectives and work closely with experimental and clinical partners to better understand the domain, help address scientific hypotheses and support the CoRE programme objectives. In addition, you will advise and supervise CoRE staff and students on the associated CoRE PhD programme on a day‑to‑day basis. You must hold a PhD/DPhil with a significant computational and/or statistical element, or comparable industrial research experience. You must have expertise in bioinformatics analysis of omics datasets, including single‑cell and spatial multi‑omics. Previous experience applying machine learning/AI methods, including experience and knowledge of python programming, is essential. Experience of developing computational methods for omics data analysis, along with experience and knowledge of another relevant programming language (e.g. R), is desirable. This is a fixed‑term, full time position for 3 years, in the first instance.
