We are looking for a nurse who finds patient care and working as a team rewarding, is resilient and fully qualified with at least 2 years of experience. Prior experience in general practice is not essential, but a keen interest in specialist knowledge in diabetes, asthma, COPD or women's health (contraception/HRT) is desirable. We will help you develop the skills and attributes needed to become an excellent primary care nurse.ResponsibilitiesAs a Practice Nurse you will provide routine nursing and medical care to patients. This includes:Monitoring, taking blood, specimens and swabsTreating and dressing wounds, home visitsGiving vaccinations and general medical advice (family planning, health‑related travel)Running clinics for women's health (contraception/HRT) or long‑term conditions (diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart condition etc)Working to protocols to ensure best and safe care as part of a Nursing TeamKey tasks and responsibilities also include:INR monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, ECG recording, wound management, removal of sutures, routine urine testing, routine immunisation, emergency nebulisation, Covid/Flu vaccinations, chronic condition reviews, hypertension management, opportunistic health promotion interventions (smoking cessation, healthy eating and lifestyle)Up‑to‑date knowledge of CPR and anaphylaxis management, infection control best practice, safe storage and disposal of drugs, vaccines and dressings, ordering and maintaining stock levelsProviding specialist area support (mental health and dementia checks, adult and child immunisations, travel health advice, disease clinic support for asthma, COPD, spirometry and diabetes management)Initiating diagnosis processes for suspected chronic disease, managing programmes of care under local/national guidelines, providing HRT, family planning advice and annual contraceptive reviewsQualificationsRegistered Nurse with ideally a minimum of two years experienceExperienceGood IT skills, able to learn new applicationsDesirable: previous knowledge of SystmOne, Practice Nurse experience, Community Nursing experience, chronic disease management experience/qualifications (diabetes, asthma, HRT)Skills & AbilitiesExcellent communication skillsProblem‑solving skillsAbility to work without direct supervisionAbility to manage time and workload, handle multiple tasks and conflicting demands with good attention to detailAbility to work under pressure and maintain a professional, effective approachAbility to work as part of an integrated multi‑skilled teamAttributesReal people person who listens, reliable, trustworthy, conscientiousPatient, polite and good manneredEnthusiastic, self‑starter, able to remain calm under pressureAble to work in a team, take responsibility for own actions, flexible approach to duties and working arrangementsSpecial Job RequirementsNurse‑led management of chronic disease clinicsInfection control best practice, chaperoning, following and implementing protocols and clinical guidelinesHome visits, extended access provision in line with practice or external initiativesEmployer DetailsOne Wight Health Ltd – Cowes Medical Centre, 200 Newport Road, Cowes, Isle Of Wight, PO31 7ER.
