New Financial is an ambitious and growing capital markets think tank founded in 2014 and based in London that makes the case for bigger and better capital markets in Europe. We are currently hiring a research analyst in part or full time to work on a number of projects in our busy research programme on an (initial) 3-month fixed-term contract basis with potential for permanent employment depending on workload and candidate performance. Please note: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK and be able to provide all necessary documentation. Visa sponsorship will not be provided. The role: The part-time role would be suitable for a current Masters student interested in UK and EU public policy and finance who can work up to 20 hours a week. The full-time role would be suitable for a recent Masters graduate interested in UK and EU public policy and finance. The role would involve the following: Contributing to capital markets research projects (data-gathering, design, analysis, interviewing, and writing) – click here for a list of recent research publications. Desk research to feed into our reports, publications, and events; leading to direct written contributions. Supporting and participating in our events programme. Individual specification: Bright, motivated, enthusiastic, and intellectually curious Excellent written and spoken English presentational skills Numerate and good working knowledge of Excel, including the ability to identify and download relevant datasets, draft tables, and create charts More interested in in-depth analysis and understanding than in hot takes Interest in European public policy / regulation / government affairs in banking and finance Permission to work in the UK This role would be great for you if you: Don’t mind getting your teeth into updating or creating from scratch large original datasets using a range of different sources Feel comfortable synthesising complex datasets into a few key messages See yourself having a career in government, regulation, or public policy with a focus on banking and finance Enjoy working in a small team Want your work to be impactful – a report supported by your research with your name on the front cover could be read by finance ministry officials across Europe… Salary and benefits: From £750 per week depending on experience. (For permanent staff positions, New Financial offers benefits including holiday of 25 days a year + week of Christmas, 5% employer pension contribution, project-related bonuses, flexible working arrangements, and private healthcare.) Location: London EC1R (offices in Farringdon). Most of the team are in the office 3-4 days per week.
