Underground Networks Section Engineer Join to apply for the Underground Networks Section Engineer role at Balfour Beatty plc Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives? As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first‑of‑a‑kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Underground Networks Section Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. The role purpose is to support the overall implementation of the engineering strategy and framework for the project. The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Accountabilities Engineering Control Carry out complex setting out Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognises the optimum location for installation Coaches subordinates in the use of setting out techniques Quality Produces Activity Control Plans Actively uses the Specification as a reference document Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions Health, Safety & Environmental Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs Carrying out short‑term visitor inductions Completes Accident Book and associated reports as required Productivity Produces a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s Communicates weekly programme and targets to the workforce Commercial Collates Weekly Measure information and monitors wastage against budget allowances / KPI’s Carrying out a labour and plant reconciliation Identifies items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications Works to specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers Who we’re looking for The Following Experience/Qualifications Are Required Engineering Control Able to carry out complex setting out Creation of Asbuilts and coordination of complex underground infrastructure Quality Understands and has experience of producing ACP Understanding of construction tolerances Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents Health, Safety & Environmental Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to work Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls Productivity Understands and can use the information provided in the 13‑week Stage Programme Updates internal BB systems such as AIMS with up‑to‑date work programmes and job cards (training will be provided) Commercial Good understanding of key contract documentation Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers Previous Experience Previous experience in underground utilities, drainage and earthworks Why work for us Our people are our biggest asset and we focus on recruiting, training and developing the people who can apply innovation to deliver the infrastructure of the future.
