Consultant Anaesthetist for Pre‑Assessment Service Location: Cromwell Hospital, London Salary: £125,000 a year – full time equivalentPart‑time & job share options available Hours: 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday (within office hours). In the unlikely event of an emergency theatre case during these hours the post holder will also provide anaesthetic cover before handing over to the on‑call anaesthetist who is on duty for emergencies from 1800 – 0800. Key Responsibilities Conduct a morning clinic from 0800 – 1300 to assess high‑risk pre‑operative patients and request any necessary investigations. From 1300 – 1800 collate and act on abnormal test results, contact patients and make clinical referrals where specialty input is required. Collaborate with pre‑assessment nursing staff, operating surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre teams to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal clinical outcomes. Provide emergency anaesthetic cover, if required, between 0800 and 1800 within scope of practice. Qualifications & Skills Full registration with the General Medical Council. Be fit to practise. CCT in Anaesthetics. Evidence of satisfactory / more than satisfactory progress through training, including annual review of competence progression outcomes or appraisal. Evidence of clinical competencies in the specialty. Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems. Ability to prioritise clinical need, maximise safety and minimise risk. Ability to work without supervision. Benefits Annual leave accrual paid every time you work.
