Deputy Head of Hair, Beauty, Hospitality and Catering An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head within the Hair Beauty, Hospitality and Catering department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based across campuses. Package: Generous Annual Leave, Health Scheme, employers contribution of 28.68% (14973.25) to the Teacher's Pension scheme. Salary: £52,208 per annum Contractual hours: 37 hours per week Basis: Full Time Job category/type: Hair and Beauty Date posted: 25/11/2025 Job reference: REQ00000284 Responsibilities To lead, motivate and inspire individuals, teams and learners within the department. Plan work‑related opportunities to equip learners with skills to be creative, confident and resilient in the workplace. Implement plans to ensure effective collaboration between teaching teams, the Employment and Enterprise Bureau and the Careers and Ideas Team. Monitor the quality and uptake of initial assessments ensuring ILPs are tailored to meet learners' needs and aspirations. Develop a curriculum that effectively meets the needs of individuals, employers and the community we serve, taking account the sector priorities related to the department. Implement commercial and income‑generating opportunities for the department as directed by the Head of Department. Carry out the Duty Manager's role during the day and/or evening as part of a rota system to be determined at any of the College sites. Work with the Head of Department to develop strong links with Sector Skills Council, employers and schools in partnership with other organisations. Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role. Additional information We would consider this role as one full DHOD or two 0.5FTE DHOD's with teaching responsibilities.
