Part of a dedicated team of Acute Physicians, consultant cover for UHNM's 58‑bed AMU, 22‑bed SSU, and 11‑bed HMU, with ultrasound facilities. Main Duties Provide consultant cover for the Acute Medicine Unit (AMU), Short Stay Unit (SSU) and Higher Monitoring Unit (HMU). Develop the interface between Acute and Emergency Medicine. Deliver high‑quality patient care, participate in clinical audits and teaching. Job Details Date posted: 26 November 2025Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staffGrade: ConsultantSalary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year PAContract: PermanentWorking pattern: Full‑time Essential Qualifications Entry on Specialist Register in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine or expected within 6 months from interview date. MRCP or equivalent. Desirable Qualifications MD, PhD or equivalent. Specialty Certificate Examination in Acute Internal Medicine. Essential Experience Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) or General Internal Medicine (GIM). Desirable Experience Higher training in a dedicated Acute Medicine specialty training scheme. Critical Care experience. Academic, Research & Publication Essential: Experience of conducting clinical audit. Desirable: Publications in peer‑reviewed journals. Management Experience Desirable: Higher teaching qualification.
