Our operations teams are co-located with our headquarters geophysics team which provides regional support and oversight ensuring rapid technology deployment and high-quality, differentiating customer service.Job SummaryWorking within a multidisciplinary team of leading scientists and software engineers, the Research Geophysicist drives innovation in geophysical processing technology and ensures the delivery of effective, industry-ready software solutions that support SLB’s business objectives.The Research Geophysicist is responsible for designing, prototyping, implementing, and supporting advanced seismic processing solutions for both internal and external clients. These solutions may be delivered as integrated workflows within SLB’s seismic data-processing platform or as dedicated software applications tailored to specific project needs.Key ResponsibilitiesPropose and prototype innovative geophysical solutions to enhance industrial seismic processing workflows, with a focus on ocean-bottom node measurements. Areas of interest include compressive sensing, machine learning, survey design, broadband signal processing, wavelet processing, wavefield deconvolution, noise attenuation, and inverse problems.Develop, implement, and test new algorithms and code to advance seismic data processing capabilities.Support the commercialization of new technologies , working closely with operations geophysicists to ensure effective deployment in real-world projects.Contribute to knowledge sharingKey RequirementsEducation: PhD in geophysics, physics, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the seismic processing industry.Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in signal theory. Solid foundation in wave propagation theory. Expertise in geophysics and signal processing.Programming Skills: Experience with multiple programming languages, particularly Python and C++.Additional Skills: Knowledge and practical experience in applying data science and machine learning to subsurface imaging challenges is considered a strong advantage.Career AdvancementSLB Eureka Technical Career (SETC) provides proven technical contributors with a career path that offers them recognition, reward, and influence that parallels an equivalent management progression.
