Salary Grade 4, £25,584 to £25,989 per annum pro-rata (actual salary, £22,666.4 to £23,025.25) Lionheart School is a provision that supports some of the most vulnerable children on the Isle of Wight. We provide a stimulating, nurturing environment for a range of students who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend mainstream schools. This could be due to medical needs, being emotionally vulnerable or having behavioural difficulties. Due to the expansion of Lionheart school and the creation of the Cowes campus, Lionheart school are seeking to appoint a caretaker for the Cowes campus. Job Purpose Under the direction/instruction of senior staff – provide Maintenance and security services on school sites and premises. Major Tasks Promote equality as an integral part of a role and treat everyone with fairness and dignity To develop and maintain a generic skill set that allows the Isle of Wight Council to employ your skills, abilities and experience across the Council and its formal partnerships as needed Safeguarding Every post holder at the school has responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and staff at the school. Responsibility for locking and unlocking school buildings and areas. Responsibility for security checks and identifying security risks and health and safety checks Responsibility for the operation and responding to alarm systems Responsible for emergency access to the school Responsibility for operation of heating and lighting systems at school Responsibility for identification of defects and recording of repairs and maintenance needs. Ability to manage work time and to work independently An understanding of infection prevention control is essential A working knowledge of COSHH regulation including a knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment. Can be adaptable to changing needs. Tasks may include, lifting, bending, standing and moving equipment so physical stamina is essential. Excellent attention to detail. Generic Tasks To work flexibly across the school or in other educational settings, including delivering home tuition, as required. To teach pupils to effect maximum personal and educational progress and maintain curriculum continuity. To complete teacher assessments, reports and records on a systematic basis. To provide ongoing monitoring and assessment of students within the school and in partnership with schools and local authority support services. To assist with the implementation and review of student Risk Assessments, IEPs or similar. To make an active contribution to the development of the school. To develop and maintain up to date personal knowledge and expertise in your areas. To have responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in the school. To undertake additional tasks as required under the direction of the Headteacher.
