Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) Join to apply for the Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) role at Islet Systems. Job Summary We are excited to offer a qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner the opportunity to join our service on a 1‑year fixed‑term contract. The CWP team sits within our Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) early intervention pathway. We are looking for practitioners with proactive and positive attitudes to support our waiting lists so that children can be seen quicker. The successful candidates will join the CWP team to work with children presenting with mild‑to‑moderate mental health needs requiring Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI‑CBT). The role may involve some travel around the county, seeing young people in community and clinic settings; therefore a driving licence and car are essential. Main Duties Complete and pass the Children Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) Training. Work with children and young people presenting with mild‑to‑moderate mental health needs, providing Low Intensity CBT. Interact with patients and the public confidently, providing non‑clinical information and advice to improve their experience. Handle sensitive information daily, ensuring data security. Travel across Devon to support community and clinic settings. CFHD provides integrated care and treatment across physical and mental health, working closely with local universities and other providers. It operates under the i‑Thrive Framework with integrated access across the county. Our approach is developed in partnership with children, young people, and their families/carers. Job Description & Person Specification Qualifications Essential CYP IAPT accredited Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner qualification or equivalent (e.g., PG Cert in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions for Children/Young People) OR IAPT accredited adult Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification – both at degree/post‑graduate certificate level or equivalent. Training in an evidence‑based therapeutic approach. Desirable Evidence of relevant CPD. Knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of mental health presentations and evidence‑based clinical interventions. Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s mental health. Understanding of the use in practice of assessment tools, routine outcome measures, and goal‑based care. Knowledge of child development. Ability to drive across Devon. Experience Experience engaging/working with children, young people, families and carers with mental health needs, and undertaking specialist mental health assessments in the community, including risk assessments. Experience providing evidence‑based therapeutic interventions for children and young people with mental health problems. Experience working collaboratively in community settings with professionals across health, social care and education. Experience in anti‑discriminatory practice and promoting diversity. Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies. Experience working clinically, taking responsibility, making decisions and seeking support as needed. Experience using outcome measures collaboratively to inform and improve practice.
