About The Role As an inclusive, forward‑thinking business, we take pride in our approach to sustainability and are looking for a highly competent and motivated student or apprentice to join our Sustainability Team. The role may be undertaken as a Level 4 Apprenticeship as a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner. You will work Monday to Friday 08:30‑17:00, manage sustainability data, support the development and application of sustainability assessment tools, and contribute to our environmental performance over the next 15 years. Key Responsibilities Responsibility for Avara’s sustainability data, ensuring that it is robust and auditable. Analyse data to provide insight into current performance and progress against KPIs, identifying best practice and opportunities to further progress sustainability credentials. Work with internal and external partners to provide feedback on sustainability KPIs and targets to support the Avara sustainability agenda. Work as part of a project team to deliver central environmental data analysis. Contribute to the annual Avara Responsible Business Report and internal engagement programs. Required Qualifications & Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – pivot tables and competency in other Microsoft Office applications such as PowerBI. Understanding of agriculture and food systems, particularly poultry supply chains (desirable). Experience gathering and interpreting large datasets with the capability to present information simply. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manipulate data for varied audiences. Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and presentation skills. In‑depth knowledge of relevant sustainability issues and a continual desire to broaden understanding. Interest in key sustainability themes such as carbon, waste, water, energy supply and consumption, food production and food waste, and a passion for driving positive environmental impacts. Proactive, independent working style and ability to work both independently and as part of a small team. Capability to work cross‑functionally across different departments and teams. Full UK driving licence.
