This is advertised as a full‑time post for 37.5 hours per week. Main duties of the job To provide specialist Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) services for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviours that challenge. The post holder will deliver direct assessment/intervention services to children and their carers referred to the service. The post holder will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and be professionally accountable to the service lead for their practice and conduct. Provision of specialist advice, consultation and training for other professionals, teams and agencies involved in the care of children with learning disabilities. Propose changes in service developments, guidelines, protocols and projects relevant to children with learning disabilities in consultation with the service lead. Undertake or support research and audit relevant to this area of healthcare. Provision of teaching, as required, to other staff from other agencies. Detailed job description and main responsibilities To provide a range of Positive Behavioural Support services to support children and families referred to the service. Together with other members of the team, to formulate and implement plans for the assessment and intervention and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based primarily upon the science of applied behaviour analysis (i.e., behavioural science) and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings. The interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including measures of behaviour, direct and indirect structured observations and semi‑structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients' care, including frontline workers in health, education, social services and the voluntary sector. To evaluate and make decisions about intervention options taking into account both the theoretical model and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. To work as part of the service and provide evidence‑based, specialist behavioural function‑based assessments and interventions for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviour that challenges. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the delivery of positive behaviour support services. To provide clinical reports within the appropriate time scales. To provide consultancy and staff support for other staff within multi‑professional, service delivery systems for children and young people referred to the service and their carers. Please see Job Description for full details Person specification Interview Registered Nurse Learning Disability, OT, SaLT, Social Worker must been registered with the relevant professional body A minimum of two years post qualification experience of providing an assessment, treatment and consultation service to children and young people with Learning Disability and their families. Good knowledge of the PBS model (such as the National Core PBS Competencies) and the history of the development of values based practice in the field of learning disabilities including ASC. Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice in the field of PBS. Knowledge of National and Local guidance/policy regarding provision of public sector services to children, young people and their families. Experience of multi‑disciplinary working. Experience and/or qualifications in delivery PBS services.
