Apply for the Environmental Technician role at Structural Soils. Due to an increase in workload, Structural Soils, part of the RSK Group, are looking for an Environmental Technician to join our expanding team in Southampton, UK. The role will provide technician support across a variety of contracts, including monitoring and sampling for external companies and Councils. It is a full‑time, field‑based role with sites predominantly across the South of England; a home base between Heathrow and Southampton is ideal. Training will cover a wide range of monitoring and sampling disciplines, offering valuable experience and opportunities for career progression within Structural Soils Ltd and the wider RSK Group. Responsibilities Environmental monitoring (Waters, Gas, Leachate, Air and Soil) Gas, Soils and Water Sampling Closed landfill monitoring and sampling Contaminated land assessment – data collection Surveying techniques Continuous gas and water monitoring techniques Hydrogeological testing – Variable Head Tests, Constant Flow, Pneumatic Slug Testing Telemetry and datalogging equipment installation and maintenance Geotechnical monitoring techniques – Inclinometer, Extensometer, VWP Person Specification This post is suitable for a practically minded graduate or candidate with more practical experience. A Science Degree or A‑Levels is an advantage but not essential. You will work independently on some projects and as part of a supportive team. Training courses (external and in‑house) will provide the knowledge and skills required for surveying, sample collection and data handling. The role involves driving, lifting and carrying samples and equipment.
