About Us We are Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, a non‑ministerial government department responsible for regulating the water sector in England and Wales. We work with the government and other regulators to establish a new body for England, combining strengths with the Drinking Water Inspectorate, the Environment Agency, and Natural England. The Role This position is in the Customer Policy & Insights team, part of the Casework, Enforcement and Customer Directorate. The team combines customer research and policy to understand household customers’ views and experiences. Your work will be split roughly 50:50 between research and policy, reporting directly to Ofwat’s Head of Customer Insight and working closely with an equivalent policy Principal. The role involves qualitative and quantitative research methods, report writing, policy consultations, licence condition reviews, and strategy reviews on issues such as affordability, vulnerability, customer experience, and customer views. You will also support monitoring of Licence Condition G, a new customer‑focused standard introduced in 2024. About You Proven experience in developing and delivering social research projects from start to finish, using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods. Understanding of policy issues related to customers, including support, vulnerability, and affordability. Strong understanding of research methodologies and their application. Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw out key insights from research findings or policy consultations and present them in an engaging manner. Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain findings to technical and non‑technical audiences. Experience working with a range of stakeholders and contractors, building relationships and collaborating effectively. Excellent planning, time‑management and project‑management skills.
