Location: York, NE Hiring Agency: Health & Human Services - Agency 25 Hiring Rate: $20.86 per hour Applications close on: 12-12-2025 Job Description DHHS is seeking individuals with a passion to “Help People Live Better Lives” for the role of Eligibility Operations Worker. We look for candidates committed to excellent customer service and skilled at working with detailed documents and processes to determine eligibility for various assistance programs in our Economic Assistance or Medicaid teams. Job Duties Participate in 6‑8 weeks of paid training to prepare you to determine eligibility for individuals within our Economic Assistance or Medicaid programs. Daily review of applications for assistance and verification or updating of financial and demographic information via electronic, phone, or in‑person exchanges. Use call‑center software and phones, including automated call distribution and voice‑response systems, as part of daily duties. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: 24 semester hours of post‑high‑school education in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, social sciences, education, or a closely related field, or experience in customer service and eligibility determination for public assistance, financial loan processing, medical or unemployment insurance claims, or a combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in human services, case management, or eligibility determination for financial assistance programs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of customer service principles, interviewing practices, and sociological conditions that influence human behavior. Strong skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and navigating multiple computer programs simultaneously. Ability to show empathy and respect to those served; to work independently; meet deadlines; protect confidential information; interpret and apply program regulations and policies; exercise critical thinking, independent judgment, and decisiveness in eligibility determination. Maintain positive working relationships and effectively communicate orally and in writing.
