It also manufactures prosthetic eyes for other associated services. Main duties of the job The Ocular Technician's duties include the hand painting and fabrication of all types of Ocular Prostheses. Accurate colour perception and manual dexterity skills are essential, as is the ability to concentrate on fine detail for extended periods. About us Candidates will be required to demonstrate artistic ability via a portfolio or similar and will have the accuracy of their colour vision assessed by use of the Farnsworth‑Munsell 100 Hue Test & the Ishihara Test, prior to an interview. Failure to achieve the required standard in these tests will prevent further progress to the interview stage. Person Specification Education & Qualification 3 GCSE's including Art (or equivalent) Qualification in Fine Art to Degree level or an equivalent Experience and Knowledge Arts and crafts experience Laboratory experience Skills and Ability Manual dexterity skills [assessed prior to interview] Hand to eye co‑ordination skills [assessed prior to interview] Accurate colour vision [assessed prior to interview] Demonstrable artistic ability in fine detail work Ability to concentrate on fine detail for extended periods Ability to work under own initiative while adhering to set procedures Ability to work to set targets Ability to work as part of a team Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
