Main duties of the job Ward 23 is an orthogeriatric ward with 26 patients. Patient's are over 65 years old and requires assistance with mobility, personal care and activities of daily living. Will be required to assist patients with dementia and delirium, and are also at a high risk of falls. This can be challenging and busy at times. We are a dementia friendly ward with an enthusiastic team who seek to deliver quality care to all out patients whilst supporting relatives and carers as well. Job responsibilities Perform personal care tasks, assist with pressure area care. Requires good communication skills, to be able communicate with family, patients and staff. Will need to assist at meal times, ordering meals and feeding patients. Complete observations, record care given. Assist nurses with tasks, to also assist with confused dementia patients. Complete food charts, fluid charts and at times organise activities with patients. Person Specification Qualifications Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
