Tate are working with a leading public organisation that champions the protection and celebration of the nation's historic environment. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join on a temporary basis, starting January 2026.
You would be responsible for to leading and managing the payroll provision, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service for the organisation and its customers.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee monthly payroll, timesheets, overtime claims, and pay reviews.
Ensure compliance with legal and organisational requirements (including IR35).
Manage payroll close at month-end and year-end.
Provide clear advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders.
Build strong relationships across HR, finance, and other departments.
Drive improvements in workflows, templates, and communication tools.
Lead, train, and develop the payroll team, upholding organisational values.Qualifications / Experience:
Experience in complex payroll environments, covering technical and legal requirements
CIPP qualification (or equivalent)
Skilled in payroll development and implementation
Clear, confident communication (verbal and written).
Strong problem-solving, detail focus, and time management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
