Responsibilities As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be at the heart of keeping the M25 Tunnels and Dartford River Crossing running safely and efficiently. This role offers a dynamic, hands‑on experience with a mix of planned maintenance, fault finding, and urgent repairs, ensuring every day is different and rewarding. Maintain and repair critical infrastructure including switchgear, transformers, pumps, fans, VSDs, lighting, and control gear. Maintain and repair traffic safety systems, including sensors, barriers, and traffic signals near the Dartford Tunnels. Diagnose faults, read technical drawings, and carry out repairs independently, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. Perform civil, electrical, and mechanical maintenance work, utilising a broad skill set to support infrastructure resilience. Adhere to strict health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices at all times. Maintain vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure they are always ready for operational use. Attend emergency incidents and work safely and effectively to clear hazards and restore operations quickly. Essential Skills & Qualifications 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) – Required qualification Proven experience in electrical fault finding, repair, and maintenance Commercial or industrial experience in electrical systems Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable Certifications (or Willingness to Train) Authorised Person – HV (advantageous) MEWPS & IPAF Certification Confined Spaces Training Inspection & Testing C&G 2391 CSCS Safety Card PASMA Certification G39 (DNO Equipment) Training Working at Height (Harness Training) First Aid Certification Benefits Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow. 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata) Family‑friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave.
