Senior Rotational Occupational Therapist The closing date is 30 November 2025 We are very excited about our Occupational Therapy Service Band 6 Rotational Programme and we hope you will be too. Our Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapists play a crucial role in our organisation. They are viewed within the Therapy service as potential clinical leaders who will receive investment and support to become the best clinicians they can. You will be supported by our Band 7 rotation co‑ordinators, who are specifically invested in your professional development. You will also be working with and supported by, a very experienced skilled workforce. These include our Clinical Leads and Clinical Specialists within our integrated Therapy service. Our service also has a Clinical Practice & Education Lead who works with our Band 6 clinicians, in developing robust training and development. The aim of this rotational programme will be to provide excellent learning opportunities and opportunities to complete: Leadership Coaching Main duties of the job 8 month Rotations at Worcestershire Royal & the Alexandra Hospitals: Medicine teams –acute management of multiple conditions; moving & handling; extensive equipment knowledge & provision; cognitive assessment; occupational performance; palliative & end of life care. Stroke & Neurology –hyper acute, acutestroke, complex care, outpatient stroke & neurology including Critical Care. Trauma –acute assessment of Trauma patients, involving a variety of upper & lower limb fractures, traumatic head injury & poly trauma. Geriatric Emergency Medicine and Frailty services –assessment & management of older adults with complex needs such as dementia, complex manual handling, palliative & end of life care, frailty & urgent care. Elective Orthopaedics – in‑patient & out‑patient elective services; hip & knee replacements & complex lower limb & shoulder injuries; early assessment & intervention focus; opportunities to complete community visits. We are currently in process with an exciting AHP integration project within the Integrated Care System (ICS) aimed at streamlining and enhancing the roles of Allied Health Professionals across urgent and community care pathways. As this progresses, it has the potential to significantly reshape the structure and delivery of our AHP services. Job responsibilities To provide Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and discharge planning to Patients within the acute Integrated Therapy service in your rotational specialty. This will include working within tight timeframes for Patient discharges. To provide guidance and supervision to less experienced staff and students. To take a proactive role within the Integrated Therapy team, with the ability to provide advice or cover other Trust sites if required. To liaise with senior Therapists to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Integrated Therapy service at an operational level on a daily basis. You will gain mentorship and support from the Occupational Therapy Clinical Leads and Clinical Specialists across the specialities. Person Specification Experience Evidence of varied post graduate experience. Experience of working with Patients with cognitive deficits. Experience of a range of moving and handling assessments and evidence of provision of low to high level moving and handling equipment. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of supporting junior members of staff and students. Experience of working at the hospital front door and/or admission prevention. Experience of implementing MCA and conducting/or supporting Best Interest Meetings. Experience of early intervention and acute rehabilitation. Experience of working with patients on fast track discharge. Experience of working within an integrated therapy service and/or joint working closely with Physiotherapy colleagues. Other qualities Flexible attitude to routine and non-routine tasks. Ability and experience of guiding the practice of others. Ability to demonstrate evidence of team working and being a positive influence within the team. Evidence of ability to provide proactive supervision. Good interpersonal skills across all grades. Evidence of ability to provide a learning experience for other staff / students. Evidence of willingness to learn and utilise new skills. The post holder must have a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle in order to work flexibly across all sites and to undertake visits in the community to deliver, fit and check suitability of equipment, as well as undertake community access assessment visits and participate in outreach visits with community colleagues if required. Qualifications Degree in Occupational Therapy. HCPC Registered. Evidence of post graduate training. Active HCPC registration. Practice Educator training. Evidence of Leadership and Management training and/or experience. Knowledge and skills Ability to clinically analyse and act appropriately on professional and ethical issues. Ability to assess and form a treatment plan appropriate to the acute setting for patients. Ability to prioritise caseload effectively to enhance patient care and hospital flow. Experience of using Electronic Patient Records systems. Experience of using IT (e.g. word, powerpoint, excel, internet).
