An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the District Nursing Service in Northumberland as a full‑time Community Staff Nurse. This role is based in the Tweedmouth District nursing team in Berwick. Community staff nurses work autonomously and as part of a team, reporting directly to their line manager and the community nursing team lead, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for a diverse group of patients with a wide range of conditions and health needs. Responsibilities Develop and deliver programmes of health and social care. Deliver care and support to patients with a terminal illness and their families, including emotional and bereavement support. Perform skilled nursing care, including assessment, wound management, palliative care and catheterisation. Conduct diagnostic tests such as Ankle Brachial Pressure Index using Doppler and interpret results to decide further courses of action. Perform procedures that require fine dexterity and skill, such as venepuncture, drug administration by injection and removal of sutures. Interpret results and communicate them to patients, e.g. blood glucose estimation, and explain aspects of care to patients and carers. Maintain and promote high standards of professional practice, sharing approaches and experience with others. Maintain a duty of care to patients, carers and colleagues through exercise of personal and professional accountability.
