2026 Cyber Security Apprentice Graduate Apprenticeship in IT Software Development (Cyber Specialism) Start Date: 07 September 2026Salary: £24,000 per annumEmployee type: PermanentLocation: GlasgowWorking Schedule: 37 hours per week (8 hours Monday‑Thursday, 5 hours Friday) Thales employs people to design and deliver technology that protects critical assets for a range of customers, including defence and security clients. The apprentice will work in a technologically advanced engineering environment where you will learn by doing, develop industry‑recognised qualifications, and contribute to secure product development from the ground up. What The Role Has To Offer Earn while you learn Job‑specific training experience Industry‑recognised qualifications Permanent role from day one Full coverage of tuition fees for university or approved training providers Wide remit to focus on the area of Cybersecurity that interests you the most within the scope of the business Key Responsibilities Will Include The Following Supporting security assessments and threat modelling Helping implement secure coding practices Supporting the rollout of secure development environments Conducting vulnerability analysis on products and development environments Contributing to the development of security documentation and compliance reports Apprentices will also integrate with cross‑functional teams to implement security controls on products and assist in incident response activities, ensuring the robustness and resilience of the organisation and its products against cyber threats. Apprenticeship Programme You will study at the University of Strathclyde, pursuing a BSc in Software Development with specialist cyber pathways in Years 3 and 4. For the four‑year programme you will balance university studies and practical work, spending one day per week on studies and four days per week in the business. Apprentices are required to attend classes on campus for 10 days annually, once a month during term‑time. Upon completion, you will transition into a permanent role within Thales in Glasgow. Requirements 4 Highers grades (BBBB) including either Maths, Computing Science or Physics National 5 English at grade C or above Resident in Scotland on or before 1 August 2026 No relevant university degree Benefits 201 hours annual leave (plus a company day and bank holidays) Company pension scheme Health Care Cash Plan Life Insurance Discount portal Performance‑related pay uplifts 80 hours volunteering in the first two years Due to the nature of the work, all roles are subject to security restrictions. All successful candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the UK and will be required to obtain a Security Clearance (SC) in line with UKSV requirements before starting employment.
