System assessment: Inspect premises to determine installation practicality and advise clients on system upgrades or energy‑saving options. Compliance and safety: Safely handle refrigerant gases and ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and legal regulations, such as the F‑Gas Regulations. Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of work performed and compliance certificates. Industries and environments Food production, retail. Environment: Businesses. Specialisations: Engineer to specialise in areas like commercial refrigeration, vehicle air conditioning, or energy‑efficient systems. Required skills and qualifications Technical knowledge: A strong understanding of HVAC and refrigeration principles, various cooling systems, and electrical components is essential. Problem‑solving: The ability to diagnose and fix technical issues is a core requirement of the role. Physical ability: The role is hands‑on and may require physical work. Soft skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients are important. Organizational and administrative skills are also beneficial. Qualifications: A high school diploma is typically required, and technical certifications in HVAC are often preferred.
