Job Location (Short): Swindon, United KingdomWorkplace Type: HybridBusiness Unit: SIGResponsibilitiesHexagon's Safety, Infrastructure and Geospatial division (Hexagon) is seeking a Chief Portfolio Architect for its Public Safety business in a remotely based position in the US. The Public Safety Chief Portfolio Architect will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the leaders of Engineering, Product Management, and Cloud Operations. This role is responsible for defining and guiding the overall public safety solution architecture within the organization. The Chief Portfolio Architect will translate business strategy into architectural principles and ensure that the technology roadmap aligns with business goals. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical expertise, as well as the ability to bridge the gap between customer and business needs and the public safety solutions developed to meet those needs.Key responsibilities:Develop the long-term architectural strategy for the Public Safety portfolio aligned with business goals and market trends.Ensure architectural consistency across public safety products, platforms, and technologiesEstablish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practicesReview and approve designs and technology choices across teamsEnsure compliance with regulatory, security, and operational standardsAssess and recommend technologies, tools, frameworks, and platformsLead technical due diligence for vendor and tool selectionEnsure chosen technologies support scalability, performance, and reliabilityAct as a solution bridge between technical product teams, product management, and executive leadershipIdentify architectural risks and propose mitigation strategiesEnsure that all public safety products are interoperable and meet performance expectationsEducation / Qualifications15+ years of overall software engineering experience are required.Experience architecting and implementing public safety enterprise solutions.Hands-on experience with a wide variety of modern software development, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure frameworks, and the ability to explain the pros and cons of each to achieve business goals. Experience with cloud services and solution architecture. Experience with Azure is a significant plus.10+ years of experience required in an architect or engineering leadership position.Experience in designing and implementing highly usable software with modern Web-basedand mobile UI technologies.Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable cloud-based solutions.Experience in techniques for data warehousing and analytics.
