The Flavour Network is proud to be working with a leading food manufacturing business based in Leicester, specialising in chilled ready meals. We’re looking for a talented Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team. The Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer is a stand-alone engineering role, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, process improvement, and working autonomously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
As the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining mechanical and automation systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives on innovation and wants to make a real impact within a modern food manufacturing operation.
Responsibilities for the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to unplanned breakdowns.
*
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across a range of production equipment.
*
Work with conveyors, packaging machinery, weighers, chillers, mixers, ovens and more.
*
Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and production lines.
*
Maintain accurate maintenance, calibration, and service records.
*
Drive continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
*
Ensure full compliance with health & safety and food hygiene standards.
*
Collaborate closely with Production, Technical, and QA teams to support operational performance.
*
Lead or assist in machinery and process improvement projects.
Requirements for the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer:
*
Proven experience in a similar engineering role within a food manufacturing environment.
*
Competence in both mechanical and electrical disciplines (roughly 60/40 or 50/50 split).
*
Skilled in fault finding, quick diagnostics, and hands-on repairs.
*
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and H&S protocols.
*
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and excellent communication skills.
*
Eagerness to continuously improve processes and machine performance.
