Exciting Opportunity for a Highway Engineer in East Yorkshire An excellent opportunity has arisen for a delivery-focused Highway Engineer to join my client's established highways team on a temporary contract, supporting highway maintenance projects across the East Riding of Yorkshire. This position is an initial 3‑month contract which acts as a probationary period as the position is ongoing. This role is site‑based and office‑based – remote working is not suitable (outside IR35). The main duties of the Highway Engineer are: Undertake regular site visits to assess the condition of carriageways and footways Develop appropriate maintenance treatments and prepare schedules and 2D drawings using AutoCAD Supervise on‑site works and ensure delivery meets client standards Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation of works undertaken Collaborate with internal teams and attend meetings at client offices as required Utilise MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and client IT systems to support project delivery The Highway Engineer will have key experience in: Sound knowledge of highway maintenance techniques, standards and specifications Previous experience supervising works and maintaining detailed records Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D only) and a good level of computer literacy Familiarity with local authority working environments is beneficial Knowledge of NEC contracts is advantageous but not essential Strong communication and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently and manage site‑based responsibilities For more details and to apply for the role, please call James Allbon at Carrington West on 02393 876042 or email James.Allbon@carringtonwest.com.
