Children's Support Worker

Job Overview We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Children’s Support Worker to join our team in Swadlincote. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children reach their full potential and supporting their emotional, social, and physical development. As a Children’s Support Worker, you will provide person‑centred care and assistance to children in a range of settings, including their homes and the community. You will work closely with families and other professionals to promote each child’s independence, safety, and wellbeing. Main Duties and Responsibilities Provide one‑to‑one and group support to children in home, school, and community environments. Assist with developing and implementing individual care or support plans tailored to each child’s specific needs. Encourage participation in fun, educational, and social activities that build confidence and life skills. Maintain positive and consistent communication with children, their families, and other care professionals. Safely transport children to and from outings, appointments, or activities as required. Accurately record and update information on progress, incidents, and any changes in behaviour using digital reporting systems. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high‑quality approach to care and support. Promote the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care, following relevant policies and procedures. Person Specification / Qualifications Essential: Previous experience working with children or young people in a care, education, or support setting. Desirable: Knowledge of childcare practices, safeguarding, and supporting children with additional needs. Ability to follow and contribute to care plans and risk assessments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children and families. Confident in using IT systems for recording and reporting. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to travel requirements.
