This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Desktop Engineer and Technician. We are looking to expand our current team with Desktop Engineers and Technicians in multi-disciplinary roles, where there will be excellent opportunity to be involved in all aspects of designing, building and deploying Desktop and Laptop platforms, across a variety of technologies, for a wide range of user communities. We are looking to expand our current team with Desktop Engineers and Technicians in multi-disciplinary roles, where there will be excellent opportunity to be involved in all aspects of Desktop platforms. This role exposes engineers to cutting edge technologies, and provides the successful candidate the opportunity to become a Desktop subject matter expert. Summary We are looking for an experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to work within an expanding project delivery team, designing, building and deploying Desktop and Laptop platforms, across a variety of technologies, for a wide range of user communities. The end clients require and expect an exceptional level of service with a unique set of use cases. The candidate should be an excellent communicator and problem solver, with an innovative approach to their work and be capable of working to tight deadlines within a high‑pressure environment. Each project delivery will require full integration into the client’s live support services, where service transition activities will require close working relationships with the BAU support teams and senior users. There will be a combination of entirely new platform design and deployment through to lifecycle management, upgrades and migration of existing capabilities. Deliverables Identify suitable system configurations to meet specific user requirements Design and build multiple virtualised Desktop environments to meet a variety of use cases Integrate virtual Desktop platforms with secure isolation/gateway appliances Troubleshoot issues identified during Proof of Concept and Early Life Support stages of system deployment Document design artefacts for support teams to consume Work with BAU support teams on the transition of new systems Contribute to designing cloud connectivity and application integration for on‑premises desktop systems Design implementation plans to deliver technical refreshes of legacy systems Required Technology Skills and Competencies Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops VMware Nutanix Windows Desktop Operating Systems MS Office products MECM (or an equivalent) Thick and Thin client management Remote Access Gateways Active Directory, including Group Policy Management Anti-virus products Cloud technologies – ideally AWS or Microsoft Azure System design and integration Architectural design documentation Innovative solutions Strong Customer Service skills About Enterprise Support Solutions Enterprise Support Solutions (ESS) provide Industry leading digital transformation services.
