Course Overview As a Student Health Visitor with BCHCFT, you will undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) (Health Visiting) level 7 Course in partnership with Birmingham City University (BCU). Approximately 50% of the course is delivered in university and 50% in placement areas across the trust. The holidays will be fixed throughout the 52‑week duration of the course. The main post holder will be responsible for overseeing academic and practice placements to ensure their completion, working across BCHC and accepting to travel to sites as required. Throughout the course theory will be embedded into practice and as an NMC registrant you will be expected to further develop your communication, leadership, and reflective skills. In practice you will be supported by dedicated and innovative Health Visiting colleagues who are committed to supporting and developing Student Health Visitors and then welcoming newly qualified Health Visitors into the teams. You will be required to be a car driver. External NHS staff: Appointed up to the mid‑point of Band 5. Internal secondments (BCHC): Will require manager approval and completion of the relevant forms to be signed by the divisional director to be transferred across on existing terms prior to interview.
