Decontamination technicians

Job OverviewDecontamination technicians will work within the Hospital Decontamination Hub comprising the Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit (HSDU), Endoscopy Decontamination and the Laundry Department. They will provide sterile surgical instruments, scopes, surgical supplies and clean laundry and linen for the Trust's wards, departments and operating theatres and external providers.Location & HoursRoyal Blackburn Teaching Hospital sites. Monday to Sunday 6am-4pm.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with re‑processing of reusable surgical instruments, medical devices and procedure packs in the HSDU.Process endoscopes through receipt, pre‑clean, decontamination and packing.Operate modern industrial machinery in the Laundry to wash, dry, press and fold hospital linen.Wash, dry, inspect, fold and pack sterile linen in the Sterile Linen Unit within a Clean Room.Collaborate with cross‑site teams to meet service needs.Essential CriteriaLevel 2, GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.Evidence of completing further training and development or education.Desirable CriteriaNVQ in Customer Care, Sterile Services, or equivalent.Experience in a factory or packing role.Experience in a healthcare environment.Ability to work quickly and accurately.Basic IT skills.Equal OpportunitiesThe Trust is an equal opportunities employer committed to improving the working lives of its staff and operates a zero tolerance policy to aggression, violence, bullying and harassment.
