The Facilities team at Solihull is a fast paced, dynamic team that supports the clinical team and the clinical strategy at various points. The priority in this role is ensuring the facilities team deliver excellent patient care and experience. Ensuring support is given to the Facilities Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping and Portering departments, and to ensure the highest standards in cleanliness are delivered to the Hospital, in line with the national cleaning standards 2025. Main duties of the job Excellent Leadership qualities - supporting the leadership of a large diverse workforce, showing care and compassionate leadership qualities. Operational Leadership skills - Delivering an excellent service from our Portering team, and Housekeeping team, keeping our patients at the forefront of what we do. Understanding and supporting with HR procedures, such as Sickness management and people related issues. Excellent Communication at all levels - communicating with our facilities team, and networking within the wider facilities team to ensure standardised practices and best practices are adopted and delivered. Supporting with the deliverance of sustainable finance plans, cost improvements and tendering schemes. Job responsibilities *Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person Specification Qualifications *Good level of general education *NVQ level 4 with at least one year experience managing people Experience *2 years supervisory experience in healthcare or equivalent field. *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. *Good verbal and written skills and ability to communicate at all levels. *Good computer skills to include use of Windows 2000 and / or Microsoft Office. *Previous experience dealing with complaints. *Good awareness of equal opportunity issues Additional Criteria *Ability to lead and work as part of a team. *Able to introduce and manage change effectively. *Knowledge of budget management. *Able to demonstrate sound leadership skills. *Able to confidently present to large audiences. *COSHH and Environmental Health legislation. *Knowledge of infection control requirements in the NHS and staff training requirements. *Knowledge of the National Specification of Cleanliness. *Excellent judgment and negotiation skills. *Ability to communicate effectively with external organisations and Trust representatives at all levels. *Ability to represent Housekeeping and clearly determine service levels and resources. *Approachable and sensitive attitude to staff members. *Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Regulations. *Knowledge of NHS standing financial instructions. *Knowledge of PLACE (Patient Led Assessment of the Care of the Environment) Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
