About us and the role
We are seeking a dedicated Spanish teacher to join our team at Avanti House Secondary School.
The ideal candidate will have a strong love for languages, sound subject knowledge, a commitment to nurturing a deep appreciation for Spanish up to KS5 and French up to KS3, and dedicated to supporting students' academic and personal growth. You will also be required to support the creation of resources for the new GCSE in Languages curriculum.
Our TES Award-winning MFL department is a highly successful part of the school, with results significantly above national average. We are proud to offer a vibrant and engaging language-learning environment, with a strong focus on cultural immersion. The department is highly active, running a variety of competitions, themed language days, and enrichment activities to inspire and challenge students beyond the classroom.
We believe that language education should empower students to develop communication skills, deepen their cultural understanding, and embrace new perspectives. Our curriculum and school ethos encourage students to:
- Develop fluency and confidence in all language skills, especially spoken and written Spanish.
- Engage with authentic texts to enhance comprehension and critical thinking.
- Build transferable language-learning strategies for lifelong use.
- Develop a passion for international communication and global citizenship.
School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.
Avanti House Secondary School is a thriving school in Stanmore, Harrow. "In addition to achieving well academically, pupils are very well supported to develop more widely. The culture and ethos of the school ensure that pupils are taught to be responsible and caring citizens" - (OFSTED, 2023).

Our fantastic site, which is a few minutes' walk from Canons Park station, has incredible spaces including sports facilities, theatre, specialist classrooms, dining spaces and a beautiful worship room.
Our staff are inspired and passionate about their roles, the vision of the school, and providing the most fulfilling learning experience for pupils. Learning is a quest to discover each student's unique gifts and potential, and to lay the foundation for their lifelong journey of learning.
