This is a rewarding opportunity to help children and young people with autism thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally—within a specialist education setting.Every day brings new challenges, new successes, and the chance to make a lasting impact.About the RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with class teachers, the Senior Leadership Team, and a multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will help deliver tailored educational support that meets the individual needs of our pupils.You’ll help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children feel understood, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport teachers in delivering engaging, structured learning activitiesAssist pupils to access the curriculum and maximise learning opportunitiesContribute to target setting, assessment, record keeping, and progress monitoringSupport and contribute to Statutory Reviews and professional meetingsHelp plan, prepare, and organise learning materials and resourcesWork alongside MDT professionals and implement recommended strategiesRecord pupil observations as requested by teaching staffAct as a positive role model at all timesSupervise pupils during breaks, mealtimes, and off-site activitiesContribute to risk assessments for activities and educational visitsUndertake all required training and professional developmentCollaborate with colleagues and professionals to support pupils’ social, emotional, educational, health, and mental health needsMaintain strict confidentiality at all timesWhat We’re Looking ForA caring, patient, and reliable individual with a genuine passion for supporting children with autismSomeone who works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues and professionalsA positive role model who understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and structureA commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and high professional standardsWillingness to undertake training and develop specialist skillsGCSE Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) – essentialCalm, empathetic, and patient approach to working with childrenTeam player with a positive attitude and eagerness to learnGenuine interest in supporting children with special educational needsPrevious SEN or classroom experience – highly desirableAdaptable, resilient, and ready for a rewarding challengeAbout UsKestrel House School is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. The location has the advantage of easy access to public transport, having the over ground station located 5 to 10 min walk away from the school and a 2 bus stops right outside of the school front gates.For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
