Time to stop fixing leaks and start plugging the skills gap. Are you a skilled plumber or heating engineer looking for a new way to use your expertise? Join EKC Group as a Plumbing & Heating Lecturer at the Plumbing and Electrical Centre in Ashford, and help adult learners build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the industry. Responsibilities Share real‑world experience and industry best practice to help learners progress into employment. Support learners of all abilities with clear guidance, demonstrations and feedback. Keep workshop sessions safe, purposeful and industry‑relevant. Work collaboratively with a supportive team committed to high‑quality teaching. Salary & Conditions There are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval. Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although they should seek clarification. Qualifications Proven experience as a plumber or heating engineer (teaching experience is not essential). Confidence in your trade skills and the ability to explain processes clearly. A positive, encouraging approach with a genuine interest in developing others. Willingness to undertake training, including teaching qualifications if you don't already have them. You're an experienced plumber or heating engineer who knows their trade inside out – from fault‑finding to first fixes and everything in between. You take pride in doing a job properly, enjoy working with people, and have the patience to explain things clearly (even when someone's holding the wrong end of the pipe bender). You are confident in your practical skills and keen to share your knowledge with others. You communicate well, break down complex tasks into simple steps, and enjoy helping people succeed. You are organised, safety‑minded and able to keep a workshop running smoothly. You bring a positive, supportive approach and enjoy seeing learners grow in confidence. Teaching experience isn’t essential – we just need your industry know‑how and willingness to learn.
