We work with over 80,000 leaders and 3,000 organisations across the world, with clients across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. In 2024 we received substantial backing from K1 Investment Management – the leading B2B Enterprise SaaS investors. We are at the beginning of significant growth, and we’re looking for superb talent to join us on this journey. As we grow, we’re fiercely protective of our culture and values. Many of us, including our founders, have families and other priorities, so we know the value of a supportive company. The team is diverse and friendly. We value fun: most days you’ll find a social event or learning opportunity to get involved with, including company socials, away days, and philanthropic activities. Our Mission We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefiting society. The Role As Legal Director, you will be the principal in-house legal advisor for Board Intelligence Group, a fast-growing B2B SaaS business with offices in London, Stockholm, and Mauritius. You’ll lead on all legal business matters, working with a small team, act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, and coordinate with external counsel as needed. You’ll have an entrepreneurial mindset, driving forward key business priorities and acting as a proactive business partner who goes beyond traditional legal advice; translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance, and working together with the business to ensure recommendations are implemented and deliver real commercial value. This is a hands‑on role with the opportunity to shape the legal function. Main Responsibilities Advise the business on a broad range of legal issues, including SaaS agreements, government and regulatory compliance, data privacy, risk mitigation, and intellectual property. Working with our Contracts Manager you will prioritise, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, partnership, and technology contracts. Oversee and coordinate with external counsel on specialist matters including complex regulatory issues and international expansion. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including GDPR and other data privacy frameworks relevant to SaaS businesses and its primary markets. Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting the SaaS and technology sectors including the EU AI Act and similar emerging regulations. Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to manage legal risk and support business objectives. Develop strategies to engage the business and its employees to provide actionable guidance on regulation that impacts the business and bridge the gap between legal and non-legal professionals. Provide training to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance topics. Support the business in managing and protecting its intellectual property portfolio. Take on the responsibilities of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the UK company. Qualifications Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or overseas jurisdiction). Previous in-house legal experience, ideally within a B2B technology or SaaS environment. Strong working knowledge of commercial contracts and data privacy. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage competing priorities. Desirable Familiarity with international legal frameworks and cross‑border transactions. Exposure to M&A, rapid scale ups, ideal but not essential. Corporate governance experience is not required but a plus.
