Your Mission: Build and Lead Product Engineering As our first Lead Product Engineer, you will be both hands‑on and a technical leader, driving product delivery and building the engineering team from the ground up. You will be the architect and owner of our production systems, making critical decisions about architecture, tooling, and team structure. You will be expected to raise the technical bar, ensure production reliability, and mentor the next generation of engineers while staying deeply involved and being hands on with everything from coding, shipping, and iterating on features. You Will Own Full Product Ownership: Build, ship, and iterate features end-to-end. Own critical parts of the stack: frontend, backend, infra, and integrations with AI systems. AI + Clinical Systems: Work with AI engineers to deploy safe, reliable clinical intelligence. Shape inference pipelines, evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails, and monitoring. Technical Leadership: Hire, mentor, and lead engineers. Define engineering culture and best practices. Ensure scalability, observability, and reliability. Architecture & Strategy: Make architectural decisions that define DoctorOS for years to come. Influence product direction and roadmap alongside founders and clinicians. High‑Stakes Execution: Own systems that must work under strict safety, compliance, and clinical standards. You thrive when: Stakes are high and feedback loops are tight You own outcomes end‑to‑end You are accountable for systems that must work and be trusted You are early‑stage, hands‑on, and enjoy building a team from scratch You’ll be a great fit if you have: Been a founder or founding engineer Experience in production ML/AI, LLMs, or high‑stakes software Shipped reliable systems that users depend on daily Built and led engineering teams at an early‑stage startup Strong judgment around risk, safety, and quality in production Have worked in regulated environments Built clinical or healthcare software/AI Have clinical knowledge or experience shipping tools used by clinicians What Success Looks Like Ship your first end‑to‑end features into clinical workflows Stand up core infrastructure for monitoring, safety, and reliability Become embedded with clinicians to understand real‑world needs If the features are used in production; you’re independently diagnosing, designing, and delivering improvements; the technical bar has risen. Own full verticals of the product and AI stack Improve reliability, safety, and throughput Interview and mentor new engineers You’re the go‑to expert for key domains and influence product direction directly. Months 6‑12: Build the Org & Strategy Own multi‑quarter roadmap areas with autonomy Lead major initiatives in clinical AI safety and reliability Architect next‑gen capabilities in DoctorOS Mentor new hires and shape engineering culture Systems you build are core infrastructure; you are trusted with company‑defining decisions; features materially reduce clinician workload and improve care.
