Art Director / Game Art Lead (AI‑Driven Game Art Showcase) Join us at Layer, an award‑winning creative tool that empowers game artists with cutting‑edge AI to generate images, videos, 3D, and audio assets. About the Role The role is remote but you must be located in Europe (UK, BCN, Lisbon) or the US/CA in the EST zone. You will set and enforce the highest creative standards across all Layer visuals, game assets, demos, and marketing/brand materials. As a hands‑on player/coach, you’ll blend art direction, pipeline expertise, and AI creativity. What You’ll Do Establish and uphold a world‑class art quality bar across all Layer visuals. Represent Layer’s customers, providing insight into their needs and helping them maximize Layer. Lead demo production, bringing structure, visual storytelling, and polish to how we show “Layer in action.” Mentor the creative team, defining what “great” looks like for our audience. Review and direct all Layer‑produced assets – from 2D concept art to 3D renders, motion, and in‑engine scenes. Showcase AI‑assisted pipelines, demonstrating techniques and best practices. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and UX/UI to evolve Layer’s tools, setting a high bar for professional AI game art software. Build documentation, tutorials, and internal showcases to support the team. You Have Direct experience at top game studios or art houses known for visual excellence (e.g., Blizzard, Riot, King, Supercell, Tencent). Proven record as an Art Director, Lead Artist, or Game Art Supervisor with multiple shipped titles across varied game types. Strong hands‑on art skills (2D, 3D, concept, environment, character, lighting, animation, composition, video). Deep familiarity with AI tools and workflows (ComfyUI, Flux, Veo3, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Runway, etc.). Comfort in fast‑moving, startup‑style environments, navigating ambiguity. Exceptional communication, taste, and visual storytelling instincts. Passion for teaching, tool demonstration, and engaging public speaking.
